If you travel through the islands with us you will have the opportunity to learn a great deal about the Outer Hebrides in the company of a local, knowledgeable guide. Our tours take you to all the major sites of archaeological and historical significance on Lewis and Harris. An “Out And About Tour” is the ideal way to explore the islands if you prefer travelling in a small informal group, enjoy walking and have a general interest in the history and culture of the Outer Hebrides.

“Out And About Tours” are happy to provide tours and interpretation to all areas of our beautiful islands, and endeavour to get off the beaten track by offering tours to some of the less visited areas of the island. One such area is the South Lochs district of Lewis, with its little crofting and fishing townships dotted around the rugged coastine. and there are a wide variety of habitats, making it an exciting area for wildlife observations.
The Isle of Harris provides the most rugged scenery in the Western Isles, and a tour of Harris can be arranged to illustrate the great contrasts between the rocky north and east areas and the spectacularly beautiful beaches of the southwest part of the island.

Man has lived in the Western Isles for several thousand years and has left his mark throughout the islands. The history of settlement can be seen in the fascinating variety of archaeological sites to be found here. Some including the Standing Stones of Callanish are internationally important sites.

“Out and About Tours” visit all of our important archaeological sites and day tours can be customised to place the emphasis on archaeology and social history.
Our package tours include visits to many of our more famous archaeological sites including: The Callanish Standing Stones, The Doune Carloway Broch and the Arnol Blackhouse Museum.
